childconsultHow to get the most out of an appointment

  • Try not to use an appointment for minor self limiting conditions.

  • Book ahead if possible.

  • Turn up on time and check in at the desk so your GP knows that you have arrived.

  • Appointments are 10 minutes each so try not to bring more than one problem. If you have several problems you may be asked to come back for another appointment on a different day.

  • Some conditions are now monitored by our primary care nurses (see the list under chronic disease clinics). You probably do not need to see a GP as well as the primary care nurse if your condition is stable.

  • Let us know in good time if you have to cancel an appointment. It can then be offered to another patient.

  • Sometimes a single problem requires more than 10 minutes. Please try to understand this if your GP is running late.
